In-Person Chicago Staged Reading Guidelines
Length
- 60-90 pages long with any number of acts. An intermission is not required.
- Ideally the work will feature trans and/or nonbinary characters/themes, however if you have a work you are very proud of and would like to have a chance to see it read aloud, please send that in as well and we'd be happy to have a consider it!

Your work should be 8-10 minutes long. When in doubt, go for 8-10 pages!
Tips and Tricks for Zoom Readings
The Technicolor Play Festival will be recorded and performed on Zoom. Below are a series of guidelines to help you edit your work to effectively fit a Zoom reading.
- No overlapping dialogue
- Limit music to per-recorded material or eliminate entirely
- Clarify which stage directions should be read aloud
- Use parentheses to indicate what you do not want read
- Be open to creative solutions to make your vision work in this unique medium!
